This week we serve you a Mother’s Day meal – original, creative, fresh, and bright – inspired by my wife, Melody. Mother’s Day is a special day and one that we had to navigate in our own way. We struggled for years with infertility. Thus Mother’s Day was an annual, unwelcome reminder. Truly a mother to all and worthy of the honor, my wife was everyone’s friend, a dedicated elementary teacher, a beloved Aunt and just the woman I had always dreamed of sharing my life with. We decided to be creative. Mother’s Day, for us, became the annual celebration of the powerful women in our life – both in the families we grew up with and in our “chosen family” of friends & loved ones!
In honor of these nurturing and empowering women, great flavors combine in this week’s meal – salmon, lemon honey, citrus edamame, & carrots enlivened with leeks and orange. Topped off by the dessert that ultimately won over my Melody: authentic French mousse. This Curious dish is a perfectly nurturing springtime meal perfect for every type of loving mother.
